Attn. Geocoin Fans: A Geowoodstock Group Coin Project

Postby Suzyfishn on Tue Mar 09, 2010 9:50 am

I am organizing a group coin project in celebration of Geowoodstock, which will be held in Washington on July 3.

Group coins are a great way to get an inexpensive, semi-personalized geocoin for trading, leaving in caches, special gifting, etc. I've participated in these before and they are a lot of fun and people really enjoy trying to collect everyone else's version of the coin. To save money, they are nontrackable.

Right now we've got pricing for 1000 coins, which works out to 20 participants ordering 50 coins each. If we get more, the price will likely go down a bit. It works out to $1.60 a coin for a total of $80 for 50 coins - a great price! The finished coins will be delivered at Geowoodstock. For those not attending GW, a shipping cost would be added to your price to get them to you via mail.

The design is a cute cow (honoring COWWS, the group hosting Geowoodstock this year). You will get to pick your cow's body color as well as have it engraved with your name (particulars on these subjects coming later). I have an art sample up on Twitter.

Please use the following methods below for keeping tabs on coin progress. This will be easier for me than sending mass emails all the time.

I've set up special Twitter and e-mail accounts to keep everyone in touch with what is going on. I will rely on Twitter more than email to relay info. If you join Twitter (free) and become "follower," you will receive notices I post automatically. Otherwise, you can just bookmark and visit the site anytime you'd like (no sign up required).
- The Twitter account is COGeoCachers
- Email will be CentralORGeocachers@gmail.com (once the project is over, we can maintain both the twitter/email for use by our local CO caching group!)

E-mail me at the address above if you want to participate. And please let your friends know about the project, everyone is more than welcome to participate. :D

I'll sign up for the Twitter feed but will have to pass on the coins. :(
See you at GeoWoodstock!

Thanks BigEddy. I plan to donate the Twitter account to the CO caching group for use after I'm done with it! It's another way to keep our local caching grouup informed of things in our area without having to wade through forums.
