I've recently been tracking wi-fi signals on my journeys and am amazed at how many more there are than a couple of years ago. With many phones having wi-fi you don't even need to haul a computer around or deal with slow digital phone networks to check on caches in the field. There are often a half dozen or more signals at any given spot in town, some of them unsecured. Almost every coffee shop and many other businesses have free public networks. The network names can be amusing and may reveal something about the owners: TheCastle, The Pad, MeowMeow, Doghouse, Bad to the Bone, PoetHouse, VampireDwelling, I_Love_My_WiFi, and several others I will not mention on a family forum.
